The lady living in this house inherited her rather unattractive garden when she first moved in.
After removing all the gravel where she suspected the previous owners parked their car she
was left with an ugly patch of weed-filled, hard-packed clay. Realising the scope of the task
she had set herself she then asked Pastures New to design a low-maintenance, low-budget
garden that offered something unique and yet maintained its simplicity. The stepping-stone
type path with smaller, random slabs dotted amongst the gravel provided a stylish and cheaper
alternative to full on paving but also blended the path with the main garden giving the illusion
of a much larger space. The bespoke raised planters added structure and interest. And no, the
milk carton is not part of the design, the lady had a leaking tap that was threatening to turn the
flower bed into a bog garden.
